It is common knowledge that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – if you have a good and above all healthy breakfast, you have a good start to the day. Above all, it fights against frequent hunger pangs that may occur sooner or later. But what should be on the table in the morning? It has to be quick before you have to go to work. But always just a sandwich and an egg gets boring at some point. Here comes a great recipe, recommended by the Federal Center for Nutrition.

Recipe for porridge from the oven: you need it for breakfast

Have you ever eaten oatmeal? Sounds pretty gross, doesn’t it? The dish made from porridge, milk and various other ingredients can also taste really delicious, and has even developed into a real breakfast trend under the name “Pap”. The problem: the preparation must be supervised so that the porridge does not burn.

But: There is another, much simpler alternative: porridge from the oven! Never heard of it? Then try this super delicious recipe. The best: The ingredients are variable. Experimentation is required when it comes to spices – and if you don’t like apples, for example, you can add a ripe banana to the porridge.

You need: 5 tablespoons of rolled oats, 150 milliliters of milk, 1 apple, honey to sweeten and spices to taste (e.g. vanilla sugar, cardamom and cinnamon), a handful of nuts (e.g. chopped walnuts)

This is how it works: Put the oats in a small baking dish and pour in the milk. Mix well. The oats should be moist and there should be some milk in the baking dish, but not floating like in a cereal bowl. Use a little more or less milk if needed. Let something swell.

Preheat oven to 170 degrees. Wash the apple, remove the core and cut into small pieces. Sweeten the oatmeal and milk mixture with honey and add spices such as vanilla sugar, cinnamon and a pinch of cardamom to taste. Then add the apple pieces and the chopped nuts and stir carefully. Place the baking dish in the oven and bake for about 30 minutes.

Take it out of the oven and try it – if you like the oats softer, you can add a little more milk and leave the oats in the oven a little longer. Otherwise, remove from the mold, arrange in a bowl and finish with a little honey or maple syrup. Enjoy your meal!
