  1. Rinse the tomatoes under running water, cut out the core, cut in half and cut into large cubes. Peel the clove of garlic and the onion and chop finely.

  2. Heat the olive oil in the pan and sauté the garlic and onion until translucent. Then add the tomato paste and roast gently. Add the diced tomatoes and cook for 10 minutes. In the meantime, pick all the herbs off the stems and chop them finely. When the tomato sauce has thickened slightly, add the herbs and season with paprika powder, salt, pepper and sugar.

  3. Now preheat the oven to 200 degrees (top/bottom heat). Cut the bagels in half crosswise and add the tomato sauce. Then spread the cheese on top. Season the ground beef in a small bowl with salt and pepper and then spread on the bagels in small crumbs.

  4. Bake until cheese is golden brown and beef is nicely browned, about 12 to 15 minutes. Then garnish with some fresh basil and serve.
